National Museum The Memorial In Commemoration Of Famines Victims is an absolutely amazing and poignant memorial to the Holodomor ( man made famine ).Between 1932 - 1933 with the help of the brutal Soviet regime and with the permission of Joseph Stalin over 10 million Ukrainian's were more or less starved to death ,a tragedy to this nation ,a shame on the authorities of the Soviet Union at the time of this man made famine. The monument looks superb, its eye catching, the statue of the emaciated girl in front of the monument is very poignant ,the monument is easy to locate on Eternal Glory Park on Lavrska Vul.Most definitely well worth checking out if your in this park

Most of the museum is written only in Ukrainian/Russian but wait for the cycle of movies projected to come around to the English language movies to get full understanding of the horror this museum is dedicated to.When I visited there is a great deal of construction going on around the museum, which may imply it’s closed. But don’t be put off. Head down the stairs and there is a door there to enter the museum.

This museum is well done and it seemed very important to us to learn about this tragedy which isn't well known. Note: the museum is under the monument, and can look closed even when it's open. Don't hesitate to go down the stairs and try to get in.

A very moving memorial and a small museum beneath it depicting the horrors of Communist Stalin's regime. During the 30's they staged a hunger crisis to prove how wrong were those who opposed giving their private land to state for "higher state aims". Another reminder of terror which caused millions lost lives.

Atop the Pechersk Hills and the other side of Glory Park, you’ll find a moving tribute to the millions and millions of Ukrainians who died as a result of this great, man-made famine. The complex has many statues and figurines but the site was undergoing refurbishment. Could only go off the information plaques available in English.

I was unaware of the famine before I visited the museum. The display when we visited was from survivors from around the world. It was very difficult reading the stories of those that escaped. There is a good english introduction in a room to the left as you enter.
