"Black Square" is the only theater-studio of improvisation in Ukraine, working on the creative principle of a "live" acting. The actors of the studio have undergone special training and are professionals in the field of "improvisation" - the genre of theatrical art, where the performance is born "here and now", becoming authentic and unique.

Black Square is the only theater in Ukraine that works on the principle of improvisation. The studio also includes a training center, art agency, cinema production, a children's theater and a pre-project.
The theater was created with the aim of forming a non-governmental educational structure so that students have the opportunity to receive a free acting education. The first set in the studio "Black Square" took place on September 1, 1991. The theater leadership tried to instill in the audience an artistic taste and an active civic position.
Studio "Black Square" had no age restrictions, sets in groups were held annually.
Theater repertoire
The Black Square method is a combination of acting technique and improvisation theater. This is a way of “live” acting, when a performance is born right on the stage, remaining unique and inimitable. Spectators literally experience everything that happens in the performance. And for the actors themselves, the development of these events is often a surprise. This method appeared completely by accident, when in the winter of 1994 the theater planned to perform with a performance, but the cast was not prepared for this event. It was necessary to quickly decide what to show the viewer. Thus, it was decided to play pure improvisation. The performance turned out to be so fascinating that soon the improvisation method was adopted as the basis of the studio. From the list of Black Square performances one can distinguish the following: “10 minutes Instead of sex”, “10 minutes Before and After sex”, “At the end - striptease”, “Memories of the future”, “Naked truth”, “Two weeks of eternity” (Star over Madrid) ”,“ Cafe of Broken Hearts ”,“ Looking for a husband for every day ”and many others. In total, over 120 performances have been staged in the history of the theater.
The cast of the theater
The founder of the theater is a professional director Anatoly Neyelov. He is the author of the method of artistic improvisation. Under his leadership, acting ensembles and scientific and methodological systems were formed. Among the actors of the Black Square theater, one can distinguish talented Ukrainian artists: Alexey Kurilko, Vasily Golovanov, Polina Tereshchenko, Konstantin Danilyuk, Dmitry Basiy, Oksana Braginets, Natalya Kazantseva, Alena Tkacheva, Vyacheslav Nikonorov, Mikhail Spivakovsky, Yuri Klyatskin, Sergey Fedorchuk Khizhnyak, Andrei Burlaka, Irina Kogut, Alexander Kirichenko and others. This team is a laureate of city and international festivals. The theater has about 80 diplomas and awards for acting.
