The park begins its history back in 1893, when the first trees were planted. Then it was called Nikolaev and did not enter the territory of the city. The park was officially opened in 1907, when small trees became powerful plants, which formed a natural zone in the center of the future metropolis. The idea of creating a park belongs to the townspeople. With the support of the authorities and joint efforts, almost 98 hectares of trees were planted. And soon the complex was named after the writer Maxim Gorky.
