Determination of the COVID-19 coronavirus antigen (execution time - 15 minutes)
- The COVID-19 coronavirus antigen test (Ag) is a new research method for the early diagnosis of coronavirus infection.
- The COVID-19 virus antigen test has high diagnostic specificity (99.8%) and sensitivity (91.4%) of the test.
- The rapid antigen test is used as a preliminary screening examination in the first days of the disease, when the concentration of the virus in the nasopharynx is maximum. The test must be taken at the first symptoms of the disease: from 1 to 10 days from the onset of symptoms.
- The analysis result within 15 minutes. Testing is carried out directly in front of the patient.
- Biomaterial for analysis - a swab from the nasal mucosa (nasopharyngeal swab).
Detection of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus RNA (PCR) (qualitative determination)
- PCR test - used to diagnose a new coronavirus infection. High sensitivity of 99.9% of the test makes it possible to detect the virus in the body even before signs of the disease appear. For accurate results, it is recommended to take the test 3-5 days after the expected contact with the source of the virus. Research material - a swab from the mouth and nose. The analysis is completed within 24 hours.
Determination of IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 (ELISA, semi-quantitative determination), the turnaround time is 24-48 hours
- The presence of immunoglobulins of class G (IgG) to CoV-2019 in the blood indicates that a person was previously infected and has recovered from the disease, their level indicates the presence of immunity. IgG are detected in the blood approximately 17-28 days after infection.
Determination of IgM antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 (ELISA, semi-quantitative determination), the turnaround time is 24-48 hours
- The presence of class M antibodies (IgM) in the blood indicates that the patient has recently been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Immunoglobulins IgM can be detected no earlier than 7-15 days after contact with the source of the virus (no earlier than 5 days from the onset of symptoms). The result of such a test is not a basis for diagnosing the disease; for accuracy, it is recommended to take a PCR test.
