Bowel examination (colonoscopy) before 14:00:

• It is advisable to follow a diet 2-3 days before the test: broth, boiled or steamed meat (including fish, poultry fillet); hard cottage cheese; white bread crackers; homemade cookies (without fruit additives and nuts), rice, non-carbonated drinks, no dye, jelly.
• The day before the scheduled procedure (regardless of when it was scheduled), you should absolutely not fast. It is necessary to follow a diet: only clear broths, jelly, clear juices and regular still water for up to 15 hours.

After the specified time, eating is prohibited. For dinner you can drink colorless jelly or herbal tea. It is prohibited to take activated carbon and iron-containing preparations. When conducting an examination under anesthesia, it is prohibited to take any food or water on the day of the examination (this does not apply to taking medications to cleanse the intestines). When conducting an examination without anesthesia, you can drink still water 4 hours before the examination.

Bowel preparation:

The drug Fortrans (if body weight is less than 60 kg, then 3 sachets, if more than 60 kg - 4 sachets). Two-stage scheme (split preparation):

• From 18:00 to 19:00, dissolve the contents of 1 Fortrans sachet in 1 liter of purified water at room temperature, drink gradually over an hour (1 sachet/1 liter/1 hour).
• From 19:00 to 20:00 1 package/1 liter/1 hour.
• From 20:00 to 21:00 1 package/1 liter/1 hour.
• On the day of the examination from 05:00 to 06:00 1 packet/1 liter/1 hour.

OR

The drug Isiklin. Two-stage scheme (split preparation):

• From 18:00 to 19:00, dilute the contents of the first Isyklin bottle to the mark with 500 ml of ordinary drinking water, drink the contents of the bottle and then drink 1 liter of ordinary drinking water.
• On the day of the examination, from 05:00 to 06:00, dilute the contents of the second Isyklin bottle to the mark in 500 ml with regular drinking water, drink the contents of the bottle and drink another 1 liter of regular drinking water.
• If the procedure is for eight hours, the second dose is taken at 4-5 am.

The occurrence of nausea or vomiting is not a reason to stop taking the drug. Regardless of the drug used to prepare for colonoscopy, it is recommended to take an additional 3 doses of simethicone.
