In children, it is preferable to do this with preliminary dilation of the pupil.
When selecting contact lenses, in addition to diagnosing vision and determining correction, the services of an ophthalmologist also include a slit-lamp examination (biomicroscopy), where the condition of the anterior segment of the eye is assessed under high magnification. This is necessary to determine the condition of the cornea and conjunctiva, identify contraindications for wearing lenses, possible inflammatory or allergic complications, assess the fit of the lens on the eye, as well as identify dry eye syndrome, etc.
The selection of lenses ends with training, during which detailed instructions are given on how to put on and remove lenses, how to care for them and what to avoid. If necessary, it is possible to return to the doctor for additional consultations, clarification of details, re-examination of vision or eye condition.
