Spiral Computed Tomography of the Lungs Without Radiation at the VitaCom Center

Diagnosis of lung diseases using ultra low-dose computed tomography (UNDCT) is used in the following cases:

• Primary diagnosis of pneumonia, tuberculosis, viral and fungal lesions of the lung parenchyma and in order to compare the CT picture in dynamics.
• Evaluation of the spread of interstitial lung lesions of any origin.
• Search for nodules, foci in the lungs in cancer patients, as well as after the treatment of oncopathology.
• Diagnosis of sarcoidosis, occupational diseases.
• Visualization of a group of obstructive diseases of the lungs and bronchi.
• Determination of a group of rare lung diseases, cystic lesions, indications for CT with IV contrast, etc.

UNDCT is performed on the same CT system as conventional CT, but with a 7-10-fold reduction in radiation dose using a special algorithm for interactive i-DOSE image reconstruction, without preparation, without contrast enhancement, within a few minutes. If changes are detected, they are analyzed at workstations by special programs using technologies similar to artificial intelligence, and further examination and treatment are carried out if necessary and as prescribed by a doctor on a general basis.

Previous x-ray or fluorograms sent for research are not mandatory, but if the patient has already consulted a doctor about his illness, then in order to increase the reliability of the diagnosis, it is desirable to have a referral from a doctor indicating the preliminary diagnosis and the purpose of the study, as well as the available images, analyzes , extracts with the results of treatment. The results of UDCT examination of the lungs are highly reliable and do not require additional radiography or fluorography, since they are many times more informative than the latter.

A helical CT scanner has several advantages over a conventional CT scanner, namely:

• Less radiation exposure to the patient, even if several parts of the body are examined at the same time.
• Great scanning speed. In a very short period of time, about twenty seconds, an image of the highest quality and any area is obtained.
• Gives the most accurate volumetric images. Clear three-dimensional images most accurately determine the localization of the disease and the nature of the pathology. Spiral research techniques make it possible to use angiographic examination of blood vessels.
