Computed tomography of the lungs with a minimum dose of radiation at the «Lifescan»

Low-dose CT is a method of screening lung diseases using low-dose computed tomography. Unlike traditional fluorography or chest x-rays, low-dose CT can visualize lung tissue in three dimensions in much greater detail. At the same time, in contrast to traditional CT of the lungs, the radiation exposure is reduced by an order of magnitude from 2-3 to 0.15-0.5 mSv, which makes the technique comparable in terms of radiation exposure to conventional radiography of the lungs in two projections.

Low-dose CT of the lungs allows detecting focal, infiltrative and interstitial changes in lung tissue as efficiently as conventional computed tomography, but low radiation exposure allows it to be used as a screening method. Moreover, the effectiveness of such screening is higher than with traditional fluorography, because the spatial resolution of the method is about 0.5 millimeters.

Modern software allows you to automatically detect nodules in the lungs, outline them, calculate the size and volume, and also observe changes in the size of the formations over time.
