The water in the estuary is salty, but the concentration of salt depends on the direction of the wind and floods on the Dniester. The depths in the Dniester estuary are not great. The average depth is three meters. These places are very rich in flora and fauna. For the sake of preserving the purity of water, protecting the wildlife, in 2008 on the banks of the estuary the Nizhny Dniester National Nature Park was created.
