The room was warm with clean linen, but 4 out of 5 lights didn't work...requested it be put right and they did get one to work!!Breakfast was olives, cheeses, salami, bread , boiled eggs and jams...one chocolate cereal...and coffee and chat...not inspiring and boring after a week!!Staff were varied young staff most helpful and talkative, older staff very curt and felt at times disapproving!!Soundproofing is not good!! Bed comfortable, and slept well
This is probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. There was a wall thee feet away from my window, you could only just see daylight. No sound proofing above, below or though the walls. A cup stuck to the wall to catch drips from a pipe. Four lights not working reported, only one fixed. Breakfast was terrible, by far the worst I have ever experienced. Staff varied from friendly to unpleasant need I say more!
A very basic, budget-friendly hotel in a great location. And this is the main reason you would choose this hotel, because it is only a five minute walk to the main Sultanahmet square where you will find the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and a long line of eateries nearby. Walk a further five minutes and you find the famous Grand Bazaar. The hotel is in a reasonably quiet location with nearby mini-markets for your food, snacks and drinks. The breakfast and room is very basic, but again, you book this hotel for its location. The staff are friendly and nice. Choose Fides if you are in Istanbul for a short while and want to see as all of the main sites within walking distance.
Stayed here for 3 nights in May with my wife and 3month old child. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted in a friendly manner and as we had a child with a pram they even upgraded our room from standard to family room on ground floor for free! Great start to the holiday and shows how nice the staff were. Location is excellent! Short walk to Blue Mosque, Haghia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. Would definitely stay again. P.s The young man working at the counter named Anil was very friendly and helpful. Good luck with your future I'm sure you'll go far!
The location couldn't be better - short walking distance to all the major sites. We felt very safe in this neighbourhood and walked everywhere. Our family room was bright, spacious and kept very clean every day. The delicious buffet breakfast is excellent with lots of variety for everyone. There are lots of restaurants close by for lunch and dinner. They also have a fantastic video they play in the morning showing you the secret places and underground places in Istanbul (all are within walking distance from the hotel!). The staff went above and beyond to help us with not only our stay in Istanbul but also with renting a car and flying out of Turkey. We will definitely return again and would highly recommend this hotel to our friends and family.
We had a layover in Istanbul for 20 hours and decided to see some sights. We booked the Fides hotel because we were looking something cheap, close to the tourist attractions, but not creepy! We we'rent planning on sleeping much anyway. Our stay was great! The staff was super accommodating and friendly. Literally offered the coat off their back because we, coming from very hot Thailand, were not quite prepared for the cold, rainy, windy Istanbul. He also drove us around in his car for a quick tour of the area, recommended a few places to eat and see, and overall was just awesome. Beds were comfortable, room was clean, and no noise complaints. Great place to stay if you are looking for somewhere close, easy, and nice. They offer breakfast at 8:00 but we were already out exploring the city at 6:00am.Would stay again.
