Shevchenkivsky Hai is a huge park which features houses-museums from different parts of Ukraine. IT also has a wooden church built without nails! A statue of the famous Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko welcomes you at the entrance-hence the name!

This museum is a historical representation of all the areas of Ukraine represented by a building and contents that is indicative of each region. I came to see the Bukovina building, the area my ancestors are from but found all of the houses interesting. We rented a horse and wagon to take us around as this was at the end of a long day. Some of the reviews had a complaint that there was no English signage or explanation. I would suggest if you cannot read Cyrillic that you rent a guide who can interpret. There are many excellent guides in the city of Lviv to hire.

Our little group spent a great afternoon in the leafy area of the museum. The buildings were transported here from various parts of the country. It gave us a good idea of the wooden architecture of Ukraine. Interesting experience for visitors of all ages.

acıkcası cok etkileyici değil.yerel değerlerini yansıtmışlar fakat orda bulunan evlerinin içi neredeyse aynı çok özenilmiş bir alan değil.demir dövülen yer ilgi cekici onun dışındaki yerler cok başarılı değil.tatiliniz uzunsa gezin fakat kısaysa gerek yok..

I have been visiting this attraction - an open air museum of original Ukrainian rural architecture - for the best part of 20 years, and the experience gets better every time, although some improvements are still long overdue. What was noticeable this time, was that some of the cobbled roads were being renovated and toilets had been installed around the attraction, although I would not advise you use them as they fall short of European standards: they look like chemical toilets but the waste is not always removed. Best use toilets in nearby cafes before entering the attraction. Another improvement on last time was the number of cafes and restaurants on the site, so at least you can now get a bite to eat. New buildings had been added since my last visit. It's important to stress that all works are original and have been brought to the site from several regions of Ukraine. These are mostly 17, 18 and 19 cent houses, wooden churches and belfrys. You now get a map on paying the modest entry fee (less than the price of a cup of coffee!) so going around is that much easier. It can take as little as 1 hour to walk around although it can last up to 3, if you are lucky to communicate with the many guides who are present in each property. No sooner had we entered the first house on the right just past the entrance when the guide organised us all into an impromptu folk orchestra, each playing a different instrument. This was fun and a great way for us to start the visit. We visited on a Thursday but we learnt that master classes are organized for visitors at weekends, from archery to baking traditional cakes and rolls in a wood burning oven.

My two friends and I have visited must-see Shevchenkivs'kyi Hai in the middle of the week, and that's why we had one little negative feeling because there was no workshops, some houses were closed (their number was really small :)), we found only one place to buy some food throughout the way. But nevertheless we were awarded by a feeling of peace and allowed to enjoy the ethnic arcitecture fully. And it really impresses: small houses, churches, the windmill, outbuildings and many other items - all of wood. I can only guess in what way all of them were transpoted in Lviv from every corner of Western Ukraine. It mast be a big, hard and definitely great work. I knew that there were big celebrations on holidays, such as Ivana Kupala or Independence Day, and we did not come on such day, but absence of crowded places, big noise and pandemonium allowed us to feel that our country had great history, famous artists and a big talent to do usual things with love and dedication. Such parks as Shevchenkivs'kyi Hai just must remind us about it and show it to other nations. <3

Shevchenkivski Hai is the ethnic park / museum, which exhibits real 200-year-old houses and churches with old furniture, dishes, etc. inside. There are ponds and lakes in the park; also, all kinds of activities, including horse riding!
