One of the shortest central streets in European capitals, Kreshchatyik can be easily walked through. Plenty of nice shops and cafes, interesting architecture and famous Maidan - where Ukranian revolution happened- right in the middle of the street- it's certainly a must if in Kiev. Good vibe both day and night. Plenty of nightlife around too
If in Kiev it is a must to visit Khreshchatyk St and the streets around. In particular is the street advised to visit in weekends where the main street is closed for traffic. It gives the visitors a great opportunity to enjoy the street life (lots of music, amateur performances etc) without the risk of being hit by the fast driving vehicles. The underground shops and malls are absolutely worth seeing as well.
My second visit to Khreshchatyk at winter morning. It is something special of white street in dark time. Kreshchatyk is one of the shortest main street in Europe. By legend it was named by christening of people of Kiev Rus. Interesting fact that the name of Kreshchatyk was same in former USSR. Better to visit it in May when chestnut trees blossom.
