Found this square on our walk from the CITYHOTEL towards Intercontinental Kiev where the Conference was held. They were preparing for the Easter and whole square was covered in huge Easter egg sculptures, unfortunately for us - covered, so we did not manage to see much. Nice square to see but a bit far for city walking if you are travelling with kids, for solo and business travelers is a must to see. For me - better atmosphere and experience than Kiev-Pechersk Lavra/Caves Monastery. Managed to took few photos anyway :)

Very good new year decorations, many fun stuff to do on the square during the holidays, however, the snow is rarely cleared on the way to the square (the square itself is ok), so if you are getting there from Kreschatik square, you are up to a hell of an adventure of trying not to break any bones :)

This is a wonderful square. There are various concerts and events held on this plaza at different time of the year.
In the winter, there is a Christmas market and big Christmas tree here. The Christmas tree is in the center of the plaza, and there are a couple dozen vendors surrounding the tree, selling different crafts and food/drink. Lots of the vendors sell a hot Ukrainian drink that is hot wine with spices. You can try it before buying (and you should) if you just ask! It's very tasty.
The market continues down the street toward the big gilded church.
